For the love of lavender

Maggie Smith is a lavender, cut flower, and herb grower from Morris, IL.. As a child, she grew up on a small farm exploring nature where her family also raised pigs, chickens, and grew corn. Maggie attended Northern Illinois University where she studied fashion merchandising and marketing, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1990. She spent over 16 years working in the corporate retail field for JCPenney, Proctor & Gamble, and American Greetings before pursuing lavender farming full time. She has enjoyed gardening, growing lavender, creating, & sharing her knowledge with others for over 21 years. When Maggie is not busy tending to lavender & flower fields, and creating products, she spends her time with family, is active as a volunteer at the elementary school and her church, also a member of the USLGA, GLLGA, ISGA, IHA, Illinois Agri-Women, serves as the President of the IHA. as well as serving on the Illinois Specialty Grower’s Association Board of Directors (ISGA).
