Sunday, May 1st from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Schaumburg Community Garden Club and Spring Valley together host the annual Native Plant Sale and Backyards for Nature Fair the first Sunday in May. Turn your typical suburban yard into a native haven for birds, butterflies and other beneficial wildlife. Even a soggy area of lawn can become an ecologically sound rain garden that is better adapted to handle rain water runoff. Problem shady areas can become beautiful woodland settings. Native plants not only add beauty; they also allow us to make a positive impact on soil, water and air quality. Master Gardeners will be available to answer your questions regarding plants and gardening!
Sale Location and Pick-up Information
Pre-order pick up is both Saturday, April 30th, 1-3pm AND Sunday, May 1st, 10 am – 2pm (actual plant sale and Backyards for Nature Fair is Sunday).
Please visit us on Sunday, TENT SALE DAY as additional plants and shrubs are available for purchase on that day!
Location of pre-order pick up AND tent sale day:
We offer native wildflowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees as well as some non-native perennials at our sale.
About the Plants
Most of the prairie plants are provided as small 2.5″ potted plants with a fully developed root system in a 5” deep soil mass. Most woodland and non-native perennials come in 4-½” pots.
All trees and shrubs offered for sale come as 5-gallon potted plants. Newly planted shrubs will, with proper care, put on excellent growth due to extensive root system. Order early since quantities of these will be limited.
How Do I Know What to Select?
We have provided information about each plant, including flower color, bloom season, height, spread, moisture, and light requirements. We also indicate which plants will attract bees, butterflies or hummingbirds.
Check out our Plants Page for details on our plant selection:
